Nissan Juke-R takes all comers in Dubai

By: Jake Lingeman on 1/20/2012
Here's a little look into how fast the Nissan Juke-R really is. This grainy YouTube video was taken at a Nissan event in Dubai.
The Juke-R was built by Nissan's United Kingdom contingent. It's a mashup between the small Juke crossover and the all-wheel-drive terror that is the Nissan GT-R. The engineers transplanted the GT-R's engine, transmission and all-wheel-drive system into the Juke. The result is a lightweight, overpowered crossover that can jump off the line like a rocket. The body relies heavily on carbon fiber, adding to the lightness.
Four cars participated in the contest. The first is the 480-hp matte-black Juke-R. Next to the Juke is a 552 hp, all-wheel-drive Lamborghini LP 560-4. Behind them are a Ferrari 458 Italia and a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG.
Granted, this was a Nissan event, and GT Academy winner Lucas Ordoñez was driving the Juke, which must be another bonus for winning the contest. We don't know who was driving the competitor cars; they definitely don't look like pros.
Regardless, the diminutive Juke-R does its thing around the short handling course, and this being a Nissan event, you can probably guess who won.
Still, seeing the Juke-R outpacing those Italian and German stallions is quite a sight.
